Malham timing

Luckily, Liz couldn't get to ours before 10.30. That timing worked perfectly for us to arrive at the bottom of Brootes Lane as the broom wagon was sweeping up the last of 1000 riders coming down the hill that we were about to ascend.  The Struggle Van wished us luck as we headed on up to a road void of cyclists.

We had to battle a few cars but enjoyed the most magnificent countryside on the way through to Airton as the lanes cleared entirely.

It was a stunner with one of those Yorkshire clarity days that you cannot match anywhere in the world (in my biased opinion ;D)

It was also Liz's first big Yorkshire Dales hills day on her new bike and second phase of cycling.  A fine effort too as the wind was a howler and it felt like we put in more effort than the reversed route I did last week at a faster pace.
