Millenium Bridge
B and I went on a day trip to Newcastle today.
We went for a stroll along the Quayside and visited the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. I must admit that sometimes modern art installations are a bit beyond me.
After lunch we went to Fenwick's to see the Christmas window display (yes, already) and took advantage of the free samples at the food festival. We then visited the Side photographic gallery, a lovely little gallery celebrating documentary photography, current exhibitions focusing on the 'gritty north'.
The day was not entirely successful though. We went on a tour of the Victoria Tunnel; an early Victorian Grade II listed structure built to transport coal to the River Tyne which was also used as an air-raid shelter during World War II. It was an intesting attraction but the tour was really badly organised and way too long.
After two subterranean hours I was ready for a big glass of wine.
