A pile of rocks.....
....aka Stonehenge.
As we had to be off the ship early we got up, had breakfast and drove towards home via Stonehenge. The weather was pretty grim but as we got to the visitors centre it had stopped raining and the sun kept popping in and out.
I went to Stonehenge about ten years ago and I preferred it then when you could just drive up close and walk around the stones (outside the rope boundary. Now you have to park some way from the stones, pay a lot more to get in, have to go through the touristy section and then walk 25 minutes each way or catch a transfer bus.
I know and understand why they needed to do this but my experience was much more enjoyable before it came very commercialised.
Still it's an impressive sight and I still wonder why and how it was achieved.
