Lizard Brain

My colleague at work frequently talks about lizard like responses. I think he is referring to autonomic responses and our fight or flight reactions.

Why the frequent reference to this in the school environment?

I think if you see some of the responses to events in education, some of the emotional responses to challenging behaviour from pupils (and more frequently adults!) the lizard brain behaviour suddenly makes sense.

Of course, it goes without saying that, as a professional, I think rationally at all times and never let emotion cloud my judgement.

Yeh, right?!

Back to school tomorrow. I've spent all morning marking mock biology papers. Interesting, to a point....
