potato peel pie...

...and olives!

Book club today and  a very lively discussion about  'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society'.
We've been meeting for four years now and quite a group we are.
The average age would be late 60s and retired with an interesting collective history.
A farmer, teachers, book cafe organiser, geologist and composer (J our host and in her 70s has just had a piece for four saxophones performed)
and the deal is that we read the book!
Social chit chat, tea and cakes comes later but yes we have all read the book!

As we left J showed off her brine-curing olive bounty before marinating and hopefully on the tea table at another book club meeting!
They had been raked off the tree with a wooden rake and collected in nets beneath the tree...now that is a hands on harvest!

I'm hosting the next bc and for those who maybe interested we're revisiting Joan Lindsay's 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' and the final chapter 'The Secret of Hanging Rock' which apparently the publisher removed from the original book!
Ooo the intrigue!
There's a new mini series based on the the book and a stage play so it seems like a perfect time to revisit Hanging Rock.
