One Crowded Hour

oranges, lemons...

...of the Buddha's hand variety...and limes in the big red wheelbarrow on neighbour Joe's verge.

Every winter at this time of year he wheels out his barrow full of citrus fruit.
I have a bag of limes to put in herb teas and squeeze into Thai dishes and salads and always a Buddha's hand.
'native to China (possibly via India), where it is offered at temples, prized as a symbol of luck and longevity, and eaten in sweet and savory dishes. In Japan, it is used as a decorative ornament and to perfume rooms and clothing.'
Apparently a star as an infuser in vodka (limoncello), in a scented salt or sugar or  vinaigrette.

Until then I think I will just have it on my shelf of curiosities!
