History
Our Ramblers walk on Tuesday had a little bit of everything, from a woodland glen to film studios in an industrial estate to a little bit of Roman history.
There was a bit of a mist and fine rain in the air as we started our walk from Cumbernauld Village. Our route took us through Cumbernauld Glen, where they were clearing up after some filming of 'Outlander' (no stars in kilts to be seen, though!) and then we walked up towards Wardpark, through the underpass with its excellent murals (main picture) and past the Wardpark Studios to join the Antonine Wall at Tollpark.
After a bit of rough, uneven walking along the Antonine Wall path (extra photo), which thankfully wasn't as muddy as it has been on previous walks, we joined a farm road at Westerwood, near Cumbernauld Airport, and then a track that brought us out near to our start-point in the Village.
Thankfully the haar and the smirr of rain eased off as our walk progressed and, although the sun didn't break through until much later in the day, we completed our walk almost dry - the long, wet grass on the wooded part of the Antonine Wall path ensuring our shoes and lower part of our trousers got somewhat damp..
