Culumus
What a night! It just did not stop raining! We awoke to floods in the cattle field creeping up the valley from the river as it came rushing down draining water from other places higher up in the other direction. There was a scattering of snow too and the hills in the distance shone a glistening white!
The cattle yards still need to be emptied from last winter as mentioned before so now we are unable to wait for dryer weather and must devise some system of getting it out on the land without sinking up to the axles or running off into the ditches! The animals really do need to come in. Four had escaped onto higher ground and into the churchyard, noticed by T as he looked through his binoculars from the kitchen window! He was able to get them back by himself and said they had made a good job of eating the grass down. We just hope they didn't push over any of the gravestones!
This brilliant cumulus cloud appeared this afternoon and gave a comforting ray of hope with its soft fluffy shape. I just missed blipping a long line of Canada geese as they flew across the fields with their chatter. No rain forecast until next weekend!
