Snapshots of my world

Hear the beat of dancing feet...

...but definitely not the sound of trains running on their tracks!!

Mum and I have enjoyed an adventure of a day, one which is still continuing as I type this sat at Manchester station. We've been to London to see 42nd Street at Drury Lane. The show was amazing, the tap dancing truly astounding. The speed of those feet and the synchronisity of every cast member unbelievable!!

However, the trains have not been on our side, not that it's ruined the day, we've had a "go with it" kind of attitude. On arrival at Leeds, after our first train from Brighouse, we discovered the London bound train cancelled...and every one after that due to some overhead wire issue. Off we went to Sheffield to try and catch a different train to London. However, when we got to Sheffield, due to the sardine nature of the train, we were late...missing the connection! We got a later train into London which meant we arrived after the start time of the show. We did however, due to another sardine style train, sit in first class. I imagine that'll be the first and last time I do so!!

A quick sprint across London to the theatre where two lovely members of staff upgraded our seats...for our plight! We'd only missed 30 minutes of the show.

Following the show we discovered all trains were cancelled for our return leg from Kings Cross...so we hot footed it to Euston! On arrival at Euston we found all trains were delayed by an hour due to some vandalism on the line at Wembley. We eventually headed off to Manchester, only to arrive late as a result of a delay near Stockport...so missed the connecting train to Huddersfield...

...and here I now am, at Manchester, awaiting a later train and hoping to make a connection to Brighouse!! Still, what an adventure of a day out and I do love one of those. :-)

Use public transport. It takes the stress out of travelling. ;-)
