Otley Phlox
As Dr Seuss might have put it:
'Look, look! Scents and stocks, sir
And lots and lots of Otley Phlox, sir. '
But he didn't.
The Otley Phlox is the creation of Fred Simpson, a former plumber and poultry farmer who was forced into premature retirement on medical grounds. He cross bred all sorts of flowers and eventually created a perennial Phlox, which bears the Otley name and is a favourite of the green-fingered.
These are part of the display in Wharfemeadows Park.
