Univer-City

I imagine that this city has one of the highest average I.Q.s on the planet, yet the writing on the wall is illegible. It makes no sense to me. What is the point? Are these indecipherable signatures the equivalent of territorial scent marks, adopted by people who otherwise feel invisible in this community? Do we mark our territory only when we feel invisible?
These are general questions and not self reflection, in case you wondered.
