Lisbon Lovers

It's our 5th time in 2.5 years so yes, true fact, we love Lisbon. This time staying for 1 week and joining us is the other Lisbonaire, our good friend Gillian who joined us in May 2016 here.

This time we all stayed in an Airbnb house high up the hill from downtown in Graça, one of the non touristy neighbourhoods, which adjoins Alfama. Flight from Edinburgh took off on time at 6.20am so we were in our home for 11. Very happy with it as it has an amazing Terrace overlooking downtown as far as the river. Lovely.

Only downside of the position is the climb up to it but we were up for that as it would work off all the lovely food we would be eating.

Our first decision was to pick somewhere to eat so we got ready to walk downhill to Alfama and a favourite Cafe of ours from last May Do Viagro. We went there for breakfast every morning n arriving it was great to be greeted by Ricardo the owner. Gillian managed to practice her German as he grew up there. Nice to be back here.

Next up was a walk into the centre and we wandered through Praça Rossio sat down in Cafe Nicola for a Nata and coffee and had that happy feeling of being back in a city we love and the whole week ahead of us to explore - go to new places and revisit old ones.

Walked back up the hill for the second time back to apartment and we unpacked and sat on the Terrace watching the many flights flying in to the city airport.

First meal of the hols was in a local restaurant serving traditional Portuguese food. Ò Sattelite . We all went for the back pig served with rice and chips (carbs overload) and salad. By the end of the meal we were done in and glad only a short distance from the house. We were all bedded by 10. I know I was sleeping long before that. I think I had an excuse being awake at 3am!
