Creake Abbey

'Set in tranquil countryside, the flint-walled ruins of this Augustinian abbey church tells a sad story of monastic disaster. After a devastating 15th-century fire, it was drastically reduced in size, with arches and windows blocked. Then plague struck, the last abbot died alone, and in 1506 the abbey closed.'

That's the real potted history of the Abbey, not the story I heard one guy telling his son today about an English King who didn't like the Church and had the Abbey closed down. It was the starting point for a walk that G, A and I did today to Burnham Thorpe, a small but pretty village which was the birthplace of Admiral Lord Nelson. The walk was down a single track road there and back, but we did see lovely cottages, cows, bulls, alpacas, peahens, sheep, chickens, and the beautiful River Burn.  Maybe a possible occasional winter walk.

Really enjoying the French Open, there's been some very tight matches.
