Sad News

I was out early for a walk in thick mist/fog.  I headed down to the local nature reserve to check on the little grebe.  Sadly, the nest appears to have been inundated by the heavy rain on Monday night.  There is no sign of the eggs or the little grebe, despite hanging around for a few minutes. 

I know it is nature, but there was a sense of anticipation to see them hatch and grow.  Hopefully the female has time to lay again this season and we'll get the chance to see chicks soon.

To compound the disappointment it started to rain as I was walking back, so I quickly grabbed this shot of one of the irises that are growing in the margins of the canal.
