Half way through the second pass of ground threads prior to couching. The 11111 pattern becomes 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,21,2 as I fill in the gaps and this should mean the threads lie nice and flat instead of having little kinks where they turn at the top. I'm using a timer now to limit myself to an hour a go as we're busy moving house and I get too engrossed in it to notice the passage of time.
At the moment I'm doing some designs on large sheets of tracing paper and, depending upon what Andrew Crummy (the artist who has designed all the panels) thinks, I may work them soon. I've managed to link up the geometry of the DNA molecule with that of the Pictish Spirals, which represent reproduction as well as having the Scottish heritage connection and it's all getting a bit Da Vinci Code but that's just me. :-) If it reaches fruition so be it and, if not, I'm still enjoying the geometry and learning how to do those fiendishly difficult Pictish spirals from the Aberlemno Stone while I spin the compass.
