First Sebastian Sighting!

Dear Diary,

I was thrilled to see Sebastian for the first time this year sunning himself by the rock wall he calls home.  He has such beautiful markings.  Of course, I do worry about my chippys.  While Sebastian would much rather munch on a juicy slug or earth worm, he is not above having a go at a small chipmunk.  It is the way of Nature and as a rule I try not to interfere with things.  I trust my chipmunks have ways to avoid interacting with Sebastian.

Sometimes it is hard to let Nature run its course.  Maybe Little Mouse was attacked by Sebastian and managed to get away only to die later in a cardboard box on my porch.  One has to accept these sorts of things when one lives as close to Nature as I try to live.  It is the circle of life, one thing must die so another can live.  It was a painful lesson I learned living in the country as a child and my parents did not try shield me from it.  It is a lesson all children must learn I guess.
