Temporary Jackets
We spotted this very peculiar sign that was located just around the corner from the holiday apartment. Can any of you explain what a temporary jacket is? I fear that this one was definitely lost in translation.
We both had an easy day today. Grandpa drove our car up into the hills above Rapallo. Lots of narrow and twisty roads with sheer drops at the edge of the roadside. It was a very scary ride but I trusted him to get the two of us plus the car there and back in one intact piece.
We got half way back to Chiavari and my iPhone decided that it was going to disconnect my internet so we duly searched for mobile phone shops but none of the occupants spoke any English. I finished off in the end by looking on Google for an answer and sorted out the problem within only a few minutes of arriving back to the holiday rental.
We feel really chuffed this afternoon as despite reassurances that there is no nearby car park, we have indeed found a car park which is much nearer to the apartment and more secure than the beachfront parking that was recommended by both tourist information and the hostess at our accommodation. Car parking is more or less non existent in this part of Italy. If you were ever thinking of buying an apartment in the City where we are staying you will need to also purchase a "box auto" which is a tiny little garage, often with no mains services and it will set you back somewhere in the region of €60k-€80k. The appartment will be another €350k and that doesn't even get you a one bed but a tiny little studio flat. Forget that sea view you desperately wanted because it's not happening. I agree with Grandpa that it is somewhat nice here in Chiavari but we just don't understand the ludicrously expensive property prices in this part of the Italian Riviera.
Tomorrow we are thinking of heading into Genova which is about an hour's drive by car along the Ligurian coastline from here, although this plan of action does all depend upon how tired or not we feel after breakfast in the morning.
