2nd Sat Strollers

By AndrewDBurns

it's nearly the 2nd Sat of the month ...

A week tomorrow will be the 2nd Saturday of June ... thus, must be nearly time for our monthly Group-walk!

This month we're off to Dr. Neil's Garden, and then up Arthur's Seat - some further detail follows:

- we're meeting at 10am, Saturday 9th June 2018
- at Dr. Neil's Garden in Duddingston Village (see: http://www.drneilsgarden.co.uk/ )
- we'll meet in the car park located beside Duddingston Kirk Hall, which is accessed from Duddingston Road West
- all the location details (including public transport options) can be found via: http://www.drneilsgarden.co.uk/find-us/

- plan is to actually spend a bit of time visiting Dr. Neil's Garden first (there will be an informal tour!)
- if you haven't been before, it really is a wonderful garden :-)
- we'll then walk on to 'The Field' (which is a community orchard and woodland project above Duddingston Village)
- some more detail on 'The Field' can be found here: https://thefieldduddingston.wordpress.com/

- from 'The Field' we'll then walk on, up to the summit of Arthur's Seat
- various paths are listed here: http://www.geowalks.co.uk/iarthurmap.html
- but we'll undoubtedly adopt a hybrid-route ;-)

- we'll then descend so that we end up at the ' Sheep Heid Inn' (in Duddingston Village) ... see: https://www.thesheepheidedinburgh.co.uk/
- and then following any refreshments, it's just a short walk back to the Duddingston Kirk Hall car park (if you've left a car there!)
- overall, shouldn't be more than 5-6miles of walking; and take around 5-hours, including the garden visit

- there is obviously some hill-climbing involved in this month's route; so good footwear and waterproof kit required
- and do bring along some food/packed-lunch etc. --- but we can also obviously get some food/drink when we finish back at the 'Sheep Heid Inn'

If you're local and want any further detail, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly :-)
