A Day Early

It is the one hundred and second anniversary of the Battle of Jutland tomorrow.
I have ‘borrowed’ two photographs from the current Jutland Exhibition at the Historic Dockyard Portsmouth. This exhibition finishes in December so Clare and I need to plan a visit, at least a full day.
Whilst the 700,000 British dead of WWI are rightly remembered in this the centenary year what is often overlooked are those members of the Royal Naval Division, sailors who fought ashore, in all campaigns but primarily on the Western Front, as infantry.
Of almost 50,000 RN dead around fifty percent were lost at sea or have no know grave.

The ‘There But Not There’ campaign for this, the centenary year, goes a long way to raising awareness
