Fishbourne Roman Palace mosaic
The main event of the day was a visit to Fishbourne Roman Palace and its fabulous mosaics. My blip shows a section of one of them. Most of my trips around Roman remains normally focus on the military strongholds of Northumberland, so it was interesting today to see a site where décor was more important than defensive strategy.
I have been rather worried about our lack of exercise over the past few days so after lunch Mr hazelh and I set off for a walk. Initially we only intended to go a short way, principally to photograph some cygnets, but we ended up on a bit of a hike across the fields to Itchenor hard and back again. The benefit of this is a respectable step count.
The only problem is that we have just negated any benefit of the walk with a wonderful birthday meal at a superb local restaurant for Mr hazelh's mother. Oh dear...
Exercise today: walking (19,152 steps).
