Brimham Rocks

Today's the day ............................ to be taken away

Will had organised a little holiday for me to take my mind off the trials and tribulations that will happen next week (if you want to know what they are likely to be - you'll have to stay tuned!).

The final destination was Harrogate but we took in a number of places on the way. We set off early from a very frosty Kendal. Quite a covering of snow had appeared overnight on the Lakeland Fells and they looked wonderful with the blue sky above - as did Ingleborough and the other Pennine peaks.

We spent some time here at Brimham Rocks - an amazing natural landscape formed over millions of years. The Rocks are made of Millstone Grit, created in a river delta 380 - 320 million years ago. They were lifted up when the Pennines formed some 22 million years ago - and then weathering split the rocks along vertical joints and horizontal weaknesses. Erosion by wind, rain, frost, sun and people continues to this day.

It's been a lovely day - I've forgotten about everything ..............................
