Van Gogh in the Morning

What a strange image! It didn't look so End-of-the-World when I was standing there with my feet in the water. I was thinking romantic and mysterious, but this looks more like Turn-Around-and-Run. NOW. The fog thickened around the edges of the wharf, gently made the gulls and fishing boats invisible, then trickled away to hide the lighthouse, blew back to kiss the river, all in the space of a few minutes.
