Beijing

I arrived in Beijing today at 6am, couldn’t check in to my hotel until midday, so spent the morning wandering around in 36 degree heat in clothes I’d been wearing for a day. Tomorrow I’m going to Changchun in be Northeast province of Jilin, and I’ve decided to get the 7 hour train instead of getting back on a plane again. This is partly due to carbon concerns, but also because I have a lot of work to do and this will force me to sit down and do it.

This is Beijing Railway Station. It’s huge and is much easier to appreciate when you are picking up your tickets the day before you travel, rather than trying to navigate Chinese queuing etiquette with half an hour to spare before your train.
