Anatole's blips

Lizard Point

In a desperate search for some fresh air - the climate in the whole of the South of the UK having become warm and humid, we headed for the most exposed tip of Cornwall. Here at Lizard Point, if there was any sea breeze, it should be - but alas it was still and sultry. Usually you can barely stand up as you are force-fed sea air and salt spray at gale force.

So we wandered around the cliff-top pat looking at the wildflowers. The Hottentot Figs (extras) have really taken off and are blanketing the clifftops with a carpet of triangular succulent leaves and purple and yellow flowers. Just as I stopped to take a picture of the old foghorn, the new one started up and made us jump. You can hire the old lighthouse cottages here, but I wouldn't count on getting much sleep on foggy nights.
