York to Carlisle on the Dalesman.

Mrs A S's birthday  was spent on a round trip from York to Carlisle  run by West Coast Rail Tours. The day started at your with twin diesel locomotives attached fore and aft!  At Hellifield we exchanged them for the above and steamed on to Carlisle via a water stop at Appleby . A meal and a wander around  Carlisle Cathedral saw back on the train for the return trip. Fabulous views limited photo opportunities, but it was Mrs A S's day, a real experience  if long day!
