MINSTER

Minster or Church ???
This is St Gregory's, an Anglo-Saxon Church located in Kirkdale near Kirkbymoorside in North Yorkshire.
A church probably existed on this site in the C6th and the ancient sundial, situated above the main doorway under cover of the C18th porch, is of special interest. The sundial dates from approximately 1055 to 1065.
St Gregory's Minster also preserves two early highly ornamented Anglo-Saxon grave covers in the nave as well as numerous other cross-slab and early sculptural fragments.
