I - SPY in Deal.
The I- SPY booklets started in 1949 by Charles Warrell. His deputy , Arnold Cawthrow took over in 1956. He lived in the Boatmans House along the sea front at Deal. Over 25 million booklets were sold, from I - SPY Men at Work to People in Uniform, from The Unusual to Ships and Harbours. Cawthrow published some 40 different titles as Chief .
Relaunched in 2010 by Michelin , the new titles include Modern Britain and Green Britain.
In the 60`s and 70`s , you could always find an I - Spy in the back of a car.
