Artistic Paintwork
I found this artistic paintwork on one of the derelict buildings and huts that used to be part of a former RAF balloon barrage station in Sheffield during WW2.
After the War the site was used as a light aircraft aerodrome, but then, for whatever reason, this became disused and derelict.
In the 1970s there were plans for the site to be redeveloped into housing, or another hospital for Sheffield, but these did not materialise.
In the 1980s the site was taken over as a driver training centre where you could pay to practice driving your car, or motorbike, around those huts on their fairly narrow road ways and runways.
Today the driver training centre still exists, but now there is also a football pitch, a BMX bike track (with ramps), lots of scrubland, which is a superb place to walk my pugs. It has been said that my pugs are better on the ramps than some of the bikers;-)
