Too posh for poppies?

I had to take a short drive out to a Rutland village this evening. Given the beautiful rolling arable land, I was hoping to find a field or two sporting a red haze of poppy flowers. No such luck! All the fields (and verges) were lacking those bright flowers. Perhaps Rutland is too posh to have them?
