For the record
A picture taken by a volunteer to capture a moment in time and a very special evening. Actually, it's been quite a day which up to around 2pm, involved lots of running around in the heat. The car gauge showed 47degC in the afternoon. This cooled down to 38degC in the evening.
First off, I woke to G exclaiming about something happening in the garden. The gum tree outside the bedroom windows has been given a massive trim. Wrong time of the year methinks as a lot more sun will hit the glass making it even hotter, but the extra light is very welcome.
I dropped G to school and headed to the other side of town to pick up the alternator for the Volvo which has finally arrived. I was allowed (online) to choose a preferred collection point. I chose Festival City as Volvo is close by. l got there at opening time to find out that any package that is not a document and weighs over 5kgs is not entertained at mall branches. Hmmm...
Realising they were at fault, DHL then proceeded to give outstanding customer service to the point that one of their staff was prepared to deliver the package to me personally after leaving work for the day. I saved her the trouble by collecting it from their main depot - which is located in the middle of nowhere - after I collected G from school.
Really, things dovetailed very nicely and we were able to get some important things done in a short space of time. I drove straight to Volvo to deliver the part. Unfortunately, the workshop is very busy and I won't get the car back until Sunday. Same story with G. She was promised her car today, but an important part is not readily available, so it's postponed to Saturday. Amazingly, the service agent offered to pay for two extra days car hire for us!
You may recall churches here have had the challenge of re-organising their meeting times and venues due to a new rule by a newly formed government body. Tonight, a few of those affected had a joint prayer meeting in Jebel Ali. It was hosted by the Arabic speaking church who really brought home how universal the church is... Singing familiar songs in both English and Arabic! The music group were excellent. Just three musicians, one on electric drums, and another playing the bass on what looked like a pad. SO INTERESTING. We had four themes to pray about and were asked to get into small groups. My blip is of the group I found myself in. We are from four different countries and three different churches. :)
