The best thing...

If I had to pinpoint the one best thing about this past week’s experience of cruising I would have to say the joy of waking early to the empty sea outside the window and the sound of water rushing past below the balcony; the carefree standing snapping the sunrise in my nightie in the knowledge that I was completely unseen; the slight sway and gurgle of a ship at sea.

This sunrise photo was taken at 5.35am today as we headed for our final port of Civitaveccia. And now it’s evening in Glasgow and it’s still light. I’ve been up for 18 hours. Time to call it a day ...
