The Rose Garden

A work colleague and friend, PaulKnowles, and I escaped the office early and headed down the road to nearby Mottisford Abbey - a National Trust house and gardens which holds the National Collection of pre-1900 old-fashioned roses. With June being the peak time for these beautiful, fragrant flowers, the Trust hold a number of late night openings until 8pm throughout the month to allow visitors to enjoy the scents and peace of a Summer's evening; bar a few Brownie packs of excited young ladies, families, walkers, rose enthusiasts, photographers....

Actually, it was relatively quiet, and Paul and I had a couple of hours of "me time" wandering around taking photos of flowers and birds, and having one of those good old chin-wags which office and family life sometimes preclude, before heading our separate ways home - he to his wife and 2 young boys, and I to a tasty fish and chip supper.

A great end to the working week!
