The Old Forge (Friday 8th June 2018)

Gardening Friday went productively despite my tummy bug and involved putting down bark chippings and doing a lot of cutting back.

Refna suggested putting my young wisteria plant in a barrel to grow up the metal arch at the  bottom of the side path. We also added a clematis, some young plants and a lot of bulbs, and this is the result.

Muddy Waters - Got My Mojo Workin' (recorded live, 3 June 1960, Newport Jazz Festival)
Preston Foster wrote this song and it was recorded by Ann Cole, which was where Muddy Waters heard it as they were touring together. When he came to record it he'd fogotten quite a few of the lyrics and had to make up his own. It became one of his hallmark recordings and is the version most other performers have based their versions on. Some consider this performance at Newport on Rhode Island as the definitive performance (two performances, in fact). It is included on the Eric Clapton: Life In 12 Bars documentary soundtrack, which is where I heard it on this day.
