Castle Rigg

Although it was the end of the photography workshop today as the weather was still quite reasonable a couple of us decided to make a final pre-breakfast sortie to go to the ancient ring of stones at Castle Rigg. It was amazingly quiet whilst we there. There were a couple of guys camping there in bardic garb but well outside the  stone circle and eventually another photographer joined us for a while. The sun eventually came out so we experienced a good range of lighting. I'd chosen to concentrate on infra-red photography and felt the subject matter responded well to this treatment. I have never before obtained a reasonable  shot of the full circle and the darker tones of the stones in the IR image is probably a significant benefit. I also quite like the moody tone of the overall image as it seems somewhat appropriate to these ancient stones.
