Puffin Central
You don't want to believe everything you read in the papers.
Last weekend The Observer/Guardian went big with the 'seabird desert at Sumburgh Head' story. The story is (charitably) an over-simplification.
The bird population is undoubtedly under significant pressure, but over-stating stuff doesn't help. There were lots of puffins (and many other birds) around at Sumburgh Head today. If you want to read a more nuanced version of the story try the local (Shetland) media.
Or come and visit - at this time of year there are lots of birds, lots of daylight and very good cake and scones in the visitor centre.
