Everything’s coming up roses....
This morning at the allotment we were pleasantly surprised at how well everything is doing, despite five weeks of no rains.
Watering is a part of gardening I had not
Contemplated until we started and how much effort it would take , especially when it’s (a) not a tap and (b) not right at your garden.
We are slap bang in the middle of the allotment and the sun hits all day - we are very fortunate to be right next to the water tanks - before we had a little walk to Get to them.
Yesterday along with our next door neighbour (who had ‘popped out for the paper) we had a constant stream of water pouring from the butts for about thirty minutes.
It’s his happy place too and he needed out the house for a little while so announced he was going out for the paper - hence his arrival in non-gardening shoes.
Everything is coming up and growing fast. I see a change in everything from one visit to the next. Because of the nonstop sunshine we are expecting great things from our crop this year - not that last years was to be sniffed at - but we started late and some
Stuff never matured - this year am Hoping the brassicas and sweet corn make it to the end of the season and taste as great as everything else did last year
Highlight of this morning was spotting what I thought was a red squirrel! I was on the loo run so didn’t have my camera. ; but when I got close I realised it was a little stoat. Cheeky wee chappie who took
Off up ‘lavender lane’. With a skip in his step! How I wish I had even had my phone
