La Rochelle
After the most horrendous journey, the torrential rain we had while driving round Nantes finally stopped.
We decided to stop off in Lucon for old times sake, as it was where we stopped with the boys,on our first holiday in France, back in 1981.
The sun decided to show it’s face, and we had a delicious menu du jour.
A great little bar/restaurant. Very French, and a great atmosphere. Busy with locals all having lunch.
A walk round the town, and through the pretty gardens. See extra.
It was then on to La Rochelle where we are staying the night.
A nice small hotel a our room overlooking the harbour.
Have had a walk round some of the old arcaded streets. Fabulous individual shops.
The UK should take note of what a joy it is to shop here. The high streets would do well to see how the shops are presented. Not half as boring as the streets back home. Great window displays.
( Oh I did make a purchase too!)
The blip photo is of the two twin medieval towers at the entrance to the harbour.
Tour de la Chaine, and Tour Saint Nicolas.
Taken when we were sat out side a waterfront cafe with a cool drink.
Having a rest before going out to another old favourite. Bistro d’ Andre .
Hope the food is as good as it used to be.
