Il Santuario della Verna

One of the towering beeches at La Verna at 1100m in the Casentino. It was here Saint Francis is reputed to have received the stigmata.

It was hot down in the Arno valley at 29c . A bit cooler high up after the long winding roads to gain the heights. T and I found it almost empty.
