I was surprised to discover this colony on the old stump of a kowhai tree. It bloomed twice in the autumn. Perhaps it is due to very few frosts so far this winter, and a lot more rain than usual. Something has been chomping on it- I couldn’t see what.

I found the lost rescued female. She was on the weedmat covered floor by some stacked pots. I offered my hand and she readily climbed aboard. No doubt the warmth was appealing to her. See extra shot. She is now in a place I hope will be comfortable for her, and where I will be able to find her.
