Arboretum Delights

We had a trip to the Yorkshire Arboretum near Castle Howard. We chose a different route to normal and were surprised with how different this area was. A group of school children were enjoying the outside classroom but other than that we saw very few people other than at the cafe.

This tree caught my eye as we walked past. I particularly liked the cone. Unfortunately we could not find a sign or label to identify the tree.

The lake is still out of action as they work on removing encroaching vegetation, installing a new wheelchair/pushchair friendly path and adding pond dipping platforms. should be good when finished.

A really lovely afternoon with just a light breeze to explore the grounds.
