Birthday and a Day
Elbows birthday today - and the lamp’s a present that’s taken some planning.
His father, who died 32 years ago, coxed for Cambridge and had an oar from one particular race.
The oar has been propped up in one room or another through the years (minus the paddle that my MIL kept) so I squirrelled it away to a friend who loves wood challenges and he’s done a fab job. The emblems are still clear.
But also today, there’s been some really upsetting drama. The nursing care home said that Dad needed 1 on 1 care for a minimum of 4 weeks. The price was £4540 per week. What crazy crazy money is that?!
So exploring all options, hospices and kick starting palliative care, my sister and I have been wading through mud.
Desperation hit as Dad deteriorated in front of us and then, out of the blue, the hospital phones to say they’ve despatched an ambulance to collect Dad because his sodium levels were critical. So he’s back in hospital and settled into a ward.
Wagamama’s for the birthday supper helped.
