'Murray River, Mildura'

Melbourne Cup Long Weekend - Day 4

After our beautiful sunset evening the night before, we got home all went to bed and about 2 hours after that an almighty gale blew up. Mrs Rosewarne and I spent most of the night awake just with the noise of the wind in the trees above us and trying to make sure that the tent didn't blow away with us all still inside, amazingly B slept right through the entire night and D only woke a couple of times and then went back to sleep. It was quite a warm overnight low of around 24 degrees so we had all of the windows open to just flyscreens to let the breeze through, well we ended up getting sandblasted by all of the red sand that got blown inside the tent. A night to remember for all of the wrong reasons.

We did get back to sleep for a few hours at around 5am when the wind stopped blowing a gale, but we were both pretty tired for the day.

Packed up camp and drove a few km's to have a look around the old cemetery and then into town for a coffee and scones at the cafe. There was all sorts of old relics for sale in the shop and both D and B wanted to but an old spoon each and Mrs R bought a couple of old bottles.

Drove back to Broken Hill and then on to Mildura for another night on the Murray River.
