Amazing to see this Piero della Francesca fresco in the flesh after seeing a copy of it on my Mum’s dining room wall for years.

We stopped at La Verna for lunch before taking high meandering roads in dripping beech forests along the ridge tops of the Casentino national park. Didn’t see another car.

The rain that was forecast failed to fall (at least on us) although it was 13c at La Verna.
