..the Melbourne Cup when annual punters like me back the wrong horse (though I did pick the winner in the lunchtime sweep), drink bubbles and cheer on the noble steeds regardless.
This year The Cup arrived carried on the back of the magnificent War Horse.

The race that stops this nation coincides, every fourth year, with the race that stops the U S of A and tonight I went to Emmy Lou Harris and her Red Dirt Boys concert at the Concert Hall with my mate T. While playing up a storm there were definitely fingers crossed on stage for a good Obama result.

Emmy Lou is 65 and wow, what a woman and what a performer.
