Gold Lamé
Tony Heaton
A new public art plinth has arrived at St Nicholas Church and the first installation is a striking and provocative one. Based on the old NHS invalid cars in which disabled people had to travel alone and at risk of being crushed in a heap due to the fact they were made out of little more than a layer of fibreglass. This plays with words and substitutes lame for lamé.
The intention is for an annual sculpture competition and the winner to occupy the plinth for a year.
