Scotney Castle Folly
Another enjoyable day. We survived our first night sleeping in the motor home and all was well. We had a good beakfast and then set off for Scotney Castle – a fortified manor house. A previous owner thought it a great idea to deconstruct the old ‘castle’ so that he would have a view of a ruined folly from his new property – more money than sense! The grounds were spectacular with plants and trees. As we had had quite a late start in the morning we decided to visit a ruined abbey with no particular closing time, rather than another house – BUT – it was closed. We did manage to find that out ahead of arrival – I suspect this particular English Heritage site is hired out for filming.
Another night with weak signal so not able to upload to Blip, although I did manage a weak tethered link with laptop and phone. The couple of sites we have now stayed on seem to be in places with poor reception – frustrating, but perhaps my expectations are too high.
