Marigold
Today’s fog lifted for not much more than an hour. Fortunately, the marigolds are sunny even on a grey day
Praying Mantis Report: Yesterday, for the first time in a week of drizzle, low cloud and fog, the sun came out for a couple of hours. It was surprisingly warm, especially in the greenhouse. It must have felt like summer to the mantises because two of them left, including the rescued female. They were close to the door and they just made off. The other one near the door stayed to build another ootheca and she left today. All three were the most damaged ones. The two remaining ones are very tidy and I can’t tell them apart.
I feel a bit sad about the three old dears’ departure. Still, they are wild and free creatures. Each left behind two egg cases in the greenhouse in addition to their primary cases outside. I think they have done very well.
