My Dear Princess Normal & Dear Fellows,

Back in 2001, me and Cazza were coming to the end of our round the world trip. We were running low on money and we got to Florida. We decided to try and keep the trip going as long as possible by not doing anything too ambitious.

And anyway, history kind of made that decision for us. We arrived in Fort Lauderdale on September 10th, and the next day everything changed. Any further travel seemed like a bad idea.

So we ran out the clock on our big holiday in Miami. But it was a weird atmosphere. Without tourists, and still in a state of shock, Miami felt like a ghost town. Cazza and me floated about, loving all the brightly-coloured hotels and walking along deserted beaches. But at night the vibe was too weird, anxious and nervy, to feel secure out and about. Instead we stayed inside and watched crime.

Every Tuesday was "You're On The Case Tuesday" which was Cazza's favourite. It meant a marathon of "Law & Order", "CSI", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "Cold Case" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent".

We watched a fair amount of "Law & Order".

I mention all this because I have decided to resurrect "You're On The Case Day". We are watching "Law & Order", "CSI" and "Murder One" again. That last one is my favourite because Stanley Tucci goes around being slithery and slickery and there's a fair amount of s*men-stain talk.

I love programmes that have experts with black-lights splashing luminol about and talking about petechial hemorrhages. Often while these shows are on, Cazza and me will play along:

CAZZA: This perp has form.
ME: Do you like him for this one?
CAZZA: Well Richard Cross has motive, but he contributed to the DA's campaign. We'll never get him in front of the Grand Jury unless we can tie him to the murder weapon!
ME: That sick sonuvabitch!

Of course, a lot of those shows are still on tv. Olivia is still busting perps in "Special Victims Unit" but I must admit I prefer the old 90's shows best. There's no-one slickerier than Stanley.
