Sunbeams

By Saffi

Misty morning

The mist lingered quite a while in the valley before the sun gradually burned it all away.

T and K had a late night last night down at Ottery St Mary watching the Tar Barrel event. This has been the tradition for so long that no one is quite sure where it originated. Every 5th November certain townsfolk, many of them from families who have taken part as Tar Barrel Rollers for generations, carry flaming tar barrels on their shoulders around the streets. It looks really dangerous and now draws large crowds every year. The barrels are lined with tar and are filled with straw and paper to keep the flames burning. The last barrel reaches the square at about midnight.

On a more mundane note! N and I went down to Dorchester for a dental appointment. He drove and I sat in the chair. All was well.

Friends from Devon dropped in. Really good to see them and catch up on news.
