Billy's
A few weeks ago when I was chatting to the Little Misses about coming to France Miss L was giddy to discover that the campsite was near to Billy's Cider Farm. When we were there a couple of years ago we had a lovely time but I hadn't realised it had made such an impression on Miss L. She said it was her favourite place in the whole of France and couldn't wait to go back!
Today was the day! We met my mum and dad there for brunch this morning.
What a fabulous meal!! We hadn't really known what to expect and it was the most amazing surprise! Tables laden with cheeses, meats, different breads, pate, tapenade, baked eggs, bagels, prawns, quiche, tabouleh, scrambled eggs, salads, snails, smoked salmon, couscous, fruit, pies, the most delicious chicken curry...... There was more than I can remember!!
Followed by creme caramel, apple tart, pear tart, chocolate tart, tiramsu, mousse, creme brûlée, meringues, choux buns, madeleines......
All washed down with Billy's delicious apple juice.
Just fabulous!!
We sat inside to eat and then took coffees outside into the glorious sunshine. We sat next to a giant Euphorbia Wulfeni and were gobsmacked to first hear and then see the seedheads popping in the heat. It was like popcorn and had the Little Misses transfixed! Miss L asked Mr K to video it so she could show her class - they've been doing the life cycle of plants and she was keen to share this brilliant example of dispersal!!
From there we walk down to the orchard to say hello to the donkeys and visit the old chapel. It's just so beautiful!!
We had planned to go to Arromanches for the afternoon but as brunch was much more lavish than we were expecting we didn't leave until after 3pm and Arromanches would have been a rush and meant another late night.
Instead we came back to the chateau for more swimming (see extras), fishing and starting to tidy and pack up for leaving tomorrow.
I don't want to leave!!!
